[WORKSHOP] Champions Who Don't Brag (But Probably Should) - I'm Remarkable - 2nd Edition

  • 1.  [WORKSHOP] Champions Who Don't Brag (But Probably Should) - I'm Remarkable - 2nd Edition

    Posted 22 days ago

New Year, same brilliance - now with extra volume.
I Am Remarkable – IBM Champions (Second Edition)

Happy 2026, Champions! May your deploys be drama-free!!

Quick update: the first edition of I'm Remarkable is done and dusted-and the energy was chef's kiss.
Curious what people said? Read the recap & feedback here → [WORKSHOP] Champions Who Don't Brag (But Probably Should) | IBM Champions

Now, because "New Year, new me" is nice but New Year, louder me is better,

I'm opening Round Two of the I Am Remarkable workshop - just for the IBM Champions community.

Why join (again or for the first time)?
Because talking about our achievements shouldn't feel harder than debugging prod on a Friday. This 90‑minute, zero‑awkwardness session gives you practical tools to:

    • Share your wins without cringing (or rambling)
    • Advocate for yourself in a healthy, human way
    • Turn "I'll just get it done quietly" into "I did it-and here's the impact"

    What it is:
I Am Remarkable is a global initiative that helps people speak confidently about what they've accomplished-not bragging, just honest recognition. We'll nudge past the social norms that make self‑promo weird and build habits that make it feel normal.

    Logistics (light and friendly):

    • Format: 90 minutes, online
    • When: Late European time (I'll propose a few options)
    • Who: IBM Champions / IBM'emers / Friends / EVERYONE
    • Cost: Free (volunteer-led, my way of giving back)
    • Go/No-Go: If we hit 15+ interested folks, we lock it in

If your New Year's resolution includes speaking up about your impact (and actually feeling good about it), DM me "I'm in" and I'll add you to the list or drop a comment here in this thread! Hit the magic number, and we're on.

Let's make 2026 the year we ship boldly and speak proudly. You're remarkable - time to say it out loud.

Rick, I have some bad news - based on many other sessions (and one session for IBM Champions) - I think you will not be able to cross out "first awkward, super uncomfortable experience of 2026" by attending this workshop :)

    See feedback here: https://community.ibm.com/community/user/discussion/workshop-champions-who-dont-brag-but-probably-should#bm06c3b5ba-1fba-4c51-b8ef-019b02f976cb

Joking aside, I invite you - it follows the "Vegas rules" and it's packed with simple things that you can do ...

I'm adding you to the list, so we have +1.

    Love this initiative.
Last time I couldn't make it due to agenda conflicts, but I'm definitely hoping to join this round.

Especially within the IBM Champions community, this feels very relevant, we do amazing things, but don't always talk about the impact enough.

Count me as interested. Let's see if I can finally join and be a bit louder me in 2026

Awesome adding you to the list, +1.

Small summary - 8h after starting this thread we have 5 people (4 in this thread and one via DM)! This is very good start!

Once we are closer to 15 I will publish survey with possible time-slots and dates.

I know that I'm biased (since I'm leading the workshop) but the sessions is amazing :) packed with research backing up the statements and with simple actions that you could do minutes after the workshop.... it also gives the idea for the "long term"...

the more people are aware about this concept the better for all of us (trained ones and untrained ones) - because collectively we will create a space where people are encouraged to do this.

also - workshop follows the "Vegas" rule... so even it you will feel "cringy" :) it will be only between us ....

so adding you to the list!!

We have already around 15 potential people interested, so I've provided 3 time-slots.

Please go and vote, if you are ok with more than 1 slot please choose all slots. I will deliver the sessions during the slot that will have the biggest "vote count".

    https://doodle.com/group-poll/participate/epogP0Nd

As already stated - but will repeat here - this is workshop, so recording will not be available, also we will be applying "Vegas" rules - whatever happens during the workshop, stays between participants!

    See you soon! Thanks!!

    Thanks!

    Hey Satyapal,

You are more than welcome to join the session but please be aware that this is NOT about becoming an IBM Champion or what the Champion program is about. This workshop is personal initiative to help Champions and others to be proud of their expertise and the achievement they did.

For more info on the IBM Champion program, see here: https://www.ibm.com/community/champions-program/

    Or ask on IBM Community.

    Hi Marek,

Thank you for the clarification, and I really appreciate the invitation. I'd be glad to join the session.

Understood-this workshop isn't about the IBM Champion program or the steps to become an IBM Champion. I'm familiar with the program and am working toward it through the official channels, and who knows-perhaps I'll be in that league someday too.

    Hey!

    Small update:

We are meeting on Friday (30/01, @17:00 CET - Central European Zone)

I've sent an invite to 16 people (YEAH) that either voted for the time-slot or dropped me a private message (here or on LN).

If you did not get an invite (and should) let me know. If you did not vote, did not send me a DM and still want to join Friday's workshop let me know (there are still spots)

House keeping rules for the workshop:

    1. It will be an online session (Google Meet)
    2. It will not be recorded and follows the "Vegas" rules (what happens on the workshop stays between participants)
    3. It would be amazing (but not mandatory) if you will have your camera turned on
    4. You will need pen, piece of paper and a cup of coffee / tea / water.
    5. I will ask you to complete a survey at the end of the workshop (important for me as a workshop facilitator)

    That is it!

For those that will not be able to join - don't worry, if we will find another bunch of 15 people, I will plan a 3rd edition.

If you want to check feedback from previous (1st edition) session, then check this thread: [WORKSHOP] Champions Who Don't Brag (But Probably Should) | IBM Champions

    See you on Friday!

    Hey Peter!

This workshop is focused on "how" and not "what" - meaning we want to create a environment where people can share their achievements without a fear of being perceived as "bragging".

I agree with you that our failures can teach us a lot - and it is a good way to also share that not everything is "amazing with pink fluffy unicorns" :) so others are encourage to try, test, fail, learn and continue with the journey.

So even if this area is not covered during the workshop, you could use the learnings from that and apply it to "sharing failures" in a way that you would like to.

and Peter, pls share your email so I could send you an invite for the Friday's session (send your email either here via DM or in a DM via LinkedIn).

    Thanks!`

KUDOS and thanks to all those 15 amazing individuals that decided to spend 90 minutes today, on a call with a random guy from Poland :) on the topic of being proud!!!!

You all RULE!!!! And you are Remarkable!

Now go and apply this learnings in the real world!

If you want to share your experience here on the forum and convince others (or the opposite, warn others ;) ) then it would be awesome!!

For those that were not able to join, no worries I'm planning to to 3rd session sometime in Feb/March.

    I'll keep you posted!

    Thanks again!

Thanks Makek for the initiative.  Well organized, structured and most of all, simple and open minded session.  Glad I attended!

Thank you, Marek! You definitely took people out of their comfort zones, but only for the better. I especially appreciate your genuine concern and positive attitude. Good luck at future meetings!
