Schedule Backup is failing

    Hi,

    I need your help to understand why my schedule backup is failing again and again for better understanding I am attaching a snapshot it's giving return code 1 error.

    Console-6.2.2

    Server version-5

    Hosted-windows server 2008R2

    Hi,

    There are a more logs related to this issue.  From the server actlog, try to find the session used, and then all related lines.  From the client side, look at both error log and schedlog.  Both of these may give you a hint of where to start debugging.

    Hi Hakon,

    Thank you very much for your prompt action PMR is not logging due to old version we are using and we are extending the contracts but it will take time. as you said to verify the actlog also I am pasting here that log also.pls suggest on that.that schedule starts at 9:00 PM IST, here is the log for the same.

    What did the client logs say.  The server logs does not say alot that can aid in debugging.

    I didn't understand you are pointing to client log which client log. I am not clear on that point.

    Hi,

    I  will tell you my comany structure how things are working on the background. We have vmware 4. TSM server is 5. client is 6.2.2, as soon as script run after completing the snapshot it's moved the data locally on our windows server after that data as per schedule moved into tape. This is how things are working on our system. now pls tell me i checked actlog what else i can check.

    Hi,

    The logs on the client.  There should be both an error log, and a schedule log.  You may find other logs too. By default, these are located in the baclient directory, or in a directory specified in your dsm.opt file.  These files may give you a hint about what is wrong.

    Hi,

    I checked that log too attaching for your understanding also I didn't get any clear picture from that log also. That backup failed on 11th Dec this month only.

    Hi,

    In this link, it is recommended that you run the scheduler as a front task and start the schedule at a time you can see it live.

    Goto your baclient directory, start 'dsmc schedule'.

    On the server side, reschedule this task so that you can see what happens live.

    The schedule which was failed earlier again it got failed with same error code. I am attaching the snapshot.

    Hi Hakon,

    Once i run in forground it doesn't run first time then i go manually on vcenter and it shows a snapshot and i delete the snapshot which is showing after that i will be able to take it manually.

    So, you need to be sure that the script is working fine.  Then, we can start to debug TSM.

    The last friday same script has run backup has done with no errors. I am not able to understand where it went wrong earlier.
