Hi Craig
RE (and RE Pro) supports two different redirected recovery methods:
- Normal RECOVER utility - supports UTS only
- RE's own Advanced Recover (a.k.a. Change Accumulation)
Both methods only support normal ICs as the base, e.g., see Db2 RECOVER manual: "Restore of concurrent copies and system-level backups is not supported; these types of backups are ignored by redirected recovery."
RE can of course create ICs from an SLB. Those ICs could subsequently be used as the base for a redirected recovery - either using RECOVER or Change Accumulation.
Just FYI: this Aha idea https://ideas.ibm.com/ideas/DB24ZOS-I-1825 might also of be of interest given their latest purchase.
Thanks,
Tom

Subject: Redirected recovery from System Level Backup
How many of us are using System Level backups? Wouldn't it be useful if we could do a redirected recovery from this backup type A Aha has been raised and I suggest it would be a good one to vote for it. Our site is moving away from dependancies on regular image copies to supporting SLB. This at the moment is one of the downsides that we can't directly do a redirected restore .
Please vote.
