Has anyone seen how the existing Storage Protect Backup/Archive client can integrate into the Defender offering? We are about to deploy a private MSP offering in Australia around Defender and we have a number of existing clients that still require endpoint device backups as part of the ongoing contracts. Wondering if this is a viable option? Thanks.

You can also add if you want Spictera Unified Storage to the end point protection using existing IBM Storage Protect, which then can leverage

• Protection of open source based databases such as MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL etc
• Protection of commercial databases or applications that IBM does not have Data Protections agents for.
• Protection of hypervisors that IBM does not have Data Protections solutions for, such as Proxmox or kvm.
• Continuous data protection of databases by integrating the transactional data Backup so that it gets protected immediately

I am not sure I understand your question. "Defender" is a collection of offerings, which include Storage Protect, Data Protect, Data Resiliency Services (DRS), Data Management Services (DMS), Sentinel, and others. That means the Storage Protect Backup/Archive client is part of the Defender offering. When you say "integrate into the Defender", what do you mean exactly. As for "endpoint devices backups", you can use the Storage Protect Backup/Archive client (aka "agent") to back up physical machines to a Storage Protect server, or, if you leverage Data Protect, you can use the Data Protect agents to install on physical machines. If I did not answer your question, please clarify what you mean by "integrate into Defender". Thank you.

Storage Protect (server, clients and Data Protection agents) are all part of Defender already.
IBM Storage Defender includes many data protection products, among them IBM Storage Protect and IBM Data Protect.
Having said so, it is a matter of how you license Storage Protect. You can license it as a standalone product via its metrics (PVU, TB, and Front end TB) or you can license it as Storage Defender using Storage Defender Resource Units.

If you question intended to refer to B/A Client coexistence with IBM Storage Defender Data Protect, B/A Clients cannot integrate with Data Protect. If you are foreseeing a Data Protect based solution, you should consider to deploy Data Protect agents on the physical servers that are using B/A Client (they can coexist. You can leave B/A client installed and use it for recovery of old recovery point stored at Storage Protect while you create new ones in Data Protect using its agent).

On the other hand you can integrate Data Protect with Storage Protect Server to archive recovery points from Data Protect to Storage Protect Server for large retention (so you release space in Data Protect for current workloads). This has nothing to do with B/A Clients but take the change to mention it.
Integration is well defined and works.
