IBM Cloud is expanding its compute offerings with the integration of Intel Xeon 6 processors with P-cores into its Virtual Servers for VPC, giving customers a powerful new option optimized for modern, data-intensive workloads. Designed to meet the needs of AI inference, analytics, vector databases, memory-heavy applications and high-throughput cloud-native services, the Xeon 6 architecture delivers higher per-core performance, increased cache, and up to twice the number of vCPUs within a single NUMA domain-all contributing to more efficient scaling and lower latency. Combined with up to 100 Gbps of network throughput per VNIC, this offering supports distributed workloads that depend on fast, predictable data movement.

IBM's approach emphasizes architectural choice, positioning Xeon 6 alongside established 4th Gen Intel Xeon processors so customers can match the right silicon to workload intent rather than over-provisioning. The result: improved performance, workload predictability and cost-optimized cloud infrastructure. Xeon 6 instances are available now across Balanced, Compute and Memory profiles, starting with the Dallas multi-zone region, with additional global availability planned throughout 2026.
