Thanks so much for organizing this, it's a fantastic idea to bring everyone together like this.

For those of us who are just getting our feet wet in the IBM community, it can be a little overwhelming figuring out where to begin. What are the most valuable resources, certifications, or community programs you'd recommend to help a newcomer build a truly strong foundation?

Really looking forward to the session next week!

    Alex,

You can install trial version and use for 30 days:

    https://bob.ibm.com/trial

    You can look these resources:

    • Stay current - Check for updates to get the latest features and bug fixes.
    • Docs - Welcome to IBM Bob (ide)

    Some other steps to kickstart:

    • Start with a conversation - Ask Bob to explain unfamiliar code or analyze a complex function. He will help you understand what you're working with before making changes.
    • Use modes for different tasks - Switch to Code mode when implementing features, Plan mode for architecture decisions, or Ask mode when you need explanations. Each mode is optimized for specific workflows.

    Thanks,

    Naren

    Hi Narendra!

Thanks for providing that opportunity to raise questions and to learn, how to use Bob as efficient as possible.

I'm using / testing Bob against our MCP-Server, which we use to call SAM-rhapsody. It allows us to control "IBM Engineering Systems Design Rhapsody", a UML/sysML modeling tool, which supports C/C++/Java/Ada code generation, mainly used for embedded software development in safety critical applications.

I'd like to learn more about selecting/defining modes, which support using the provided MCP tools (more than 400) and skills as efficient as possible.
Currently I'm using the predefined "Advanced" mode, as it seems to be the only one, which allows/supports usage of MCP servers.
Unfortunately that mode is a "Bobcoin eater" by default, even though it performs rather simple tasks most of the time.
I'd like to learn, how to get the most out of Bob, mainly comparing it to Claude desktop (which we use internally for development).

My goal would be to develop an optimized end-2-end integration between IBM Rhapsody and IBM Bob via our AI modeling assistant, mainly for C/C++ software development.
Bob would help both developing the model (architecture level), implementing the operations , which is possible either via MCP tools or by modifying/roundtripping the generated code, and fixing compile errors.

I hope that I can get some useful suggestions in that area.

    Martin,

Thank you for your question. I have posted this question in our internal slack channel with experts.  This being an elaborate and great ask.  I was trying to add you in the channel as you are an IBM Champion, but I need to get approval for that.

    Thanks,

    Naren

Thank you for sharing this very interesting session.

I would love to attend, but unfortunately it will be 11:00 p.m. in my local time zone, so I won't be able to join live.

I hope the session can be recorded and made available afterward so that I can catch up on the content later.

    Hi Shintaro,

Thank you for your interest in attending this session from across the globe. I have been in touch with Yusuke Murakami (IBM) and have informed him that the session will be recorded for those who may not be able to attend live.

Please feel free to ask any questions during or after the session. We will be happy to address them and provide any additional information you may need.

    Regards,

    Naren

    Hi Narendra ,

Thank you for your support. I have met with Yusuke and his team last week to discuss about customer case creation of IBM Bob.

Since I received your message, I will also contact him later regarding the session recording.

    Best regards,
