  • 1.  FS7300 upgrade. Two of eight redundant paths remain Failed.

    Posted 08/28/26 03:29 PM

Just updated my FS7300's from 8.7.0.9 to 8.7.0.13.

The disk is hosted by VIOS to four LPARs of IBM i.  Each of the four LPARs of IBM i have 8 redundant paths to each 'drive'.  On two of the four LPARs I am seeing:

The other two LPARs are fine.

No, like a dummy I did not verify these paths prior to the update.  Since the data centers are hours away a quick check to see if a cable is bad by onsite checking is not an easy do.

One of the two LPARs with the issue is showing:

    WRKPRB

    Hi Robert

Check on your VIOS if all NPIV mappings show "LOGGED_IN".

If not, unmap and remap those NPIV mappings.

Alternatively reboot these VIOS one by one.

I've seen such "stuck" NPIV mappings in relation with IBM i in the past and that helped.

    Regards, Stephan
