We are facing an issue with our SAP Production to DR replication. The delta log shipment, which runs weekly, is intermittently failing due to network communication drops between the on-prem environment and the PowerVS DR setup.

Infrastructure Details:

• DR environment is hosted on IBM PowerVS

• Connectivity established through a GRE tunnel between:

  • On-prem Gateway Appliance

  • PowerVS environment

• The Gateway Appliance maintains an IPsec tunnel with the on-prem Palo Alto firewall

Problem Observed:

We are experiencing intermittent network communication failures, causing delta log shipment interruptions.
The issue appears to occur along the path:
On-prem → IPsec Gateway → GRE Tunnel → PowerVS

Requesting to check if anyone has faced a similar issue in a setup involving an on-prem gateway appliance (IPsec with Palo Alto) connected to IBM PowerVS through a GRE tunnel. Any shared experiences or guidance would be helpful.

1. Is it PowerVS environment connected to IBM VPC with Transit Gateway?
2. Or PowerVS environment connected to any IBM Classic Infra and Gateway Appliane in classic?

In first instance I would suggest opening an IBM Cloud support call from within the cloud account. L2-3 support team should be able to review your GRE Tunnel termination on the TGW that connects to the PowerVS workspace. Possibly working together to understand the timeouts you might be experiencing.
