    Hi Natalie,

    It's certainly not possible to use just one method. Another minor problem is that there are only a few good sources of information that are available entirely in German.

    That's why we are currently developing training materials for HLASM and others. We then combine this with pair programming, or I guide the trainees through selected examples. IBM Bob has also proven to be helpful in this regard.

    Absolutely-one method alone isn't enough. It requires a holistic approach.

    Greetings Natalie and the TXC community,

    Here is my take from observations while working at Velocity Software.

    Internal training for new professionals from within our org is working very well.

    Bringing back and hosting the VM workshop along with providing worldwide performance workshops is a success based on ever increasing demand with participation.

    Investing in modernization with automation tools like;
    And Velocity Software's Resource Manager: https://velocitysoftware.com/products/zvrm.html

    All seem to have hit a sweet spot in need, by helping to really make hybrid clouds easy (or dare I say, EZ), for organizations.
    - And yes, you will hear me talking about hybrid clouds made EZ at all events I'm able to attend this year.

    And then providing support for programs like EMMA would also seems so invaluable.
    Nothing seems to beat hand on access to real systems!

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Sitting this one out, so some of new folks can attend, and in Tyler Rossi's case, present the following too.

    Introduction to z17 Performance From the New Guy

    1. The IBM z17 has introduced new metrics which can be obtained through the SMF/monitor records. Attendees will learn to understand these metrics and how they fit into performance optimization.
    2. Attendees will learn to maximize z17 performance through specific examples of monitor analysis using the newest z17 metrics.

    Session Date/Time: Mon Feb 23, 9:45am-10:05am (It is a 20 minute session)

    Here's to hoping it's a packed room!
    I know it's some great, informative material already too.

    Enjoy SHARE, and maybe we'll see you at THINK, TXC (pending championship renewal and the availability of passes like normal of course), zCouncil's, summer SHARE (will most likely be submitting a session for it) and of course, the VM Workshop in June;
