Unfortunately, we had to postpone our May meetup by two weeks. Apologies for the short notice. Hope you can still join us!

Our next monthly virtual meetup here on the IBM Data Science Community is happening this Thursday, May 19Thursday, June 2, from 9–10am Pacific (12–1pm Eastern).

Elyra visual editor for NLP rules (now open source)

Although in the media you hear mostly about Deep Learning based breakthroughs in NLP, the rule-based part of NLP still will remain an important pillar. For this reason IBM is happy to announce opensourcing the Elyra visual rule editor. With this tool it is possible to design rule-based NLP workflows and execute these NLP pipelines on different runtime environments. Currently the IBM Watson Discovery is targeted, which is a high performance, parallelized enging for NLP tasks. IBM is also working on support for the open source tool "Text Extensions for Pandas" to enable developers to develop, test and run rule-based NLP on minimal hardware.

We did a number of sessions last year covering various aspects of Elyra, and they were quite popular. Watch two of the replays here:

The Elyra open source project has evolved significantly since its launch in 2020, and we look forward to this latest update from the CODAIT team.

    Please register directly via WebEx.

    See you there!
