If you're familiar with agile frameworks (in software development or project management), you've probably heard of the daily meeting (or standup, or daily scrum). This brief, daily meeting brings the team members together to check how they are progressing towards their current goal, thus allowing the team leader to make any necessary adjustments.

There is no one prescribed structure for these meetings (as long as they focus on progress and produce an actionable plan for the next work day), but a common format for them is to have everyone answer the following three questions:

    • What did you do yesterday?
    • What will you do today?
    • Are there any impediments in your way?

As the team that runs the IBM Data Science Community, we're always curious to hear what everyone on here is working on, what you're learning, or what areas you're struggling with (and how we might help).

So, in the spirit of making progress together, let's try our own little standup:

Leave a comment below to let us know your current project or assignment. Feel free to share any interim results or lessons learned. And most importantly, don't hesitate to point out any difficulties or challenges you have yet to tackle and ask the community for help.

    Go!

I work on Open Source projects at IBM. Specifically in the Call for Code team. We work in 2 week sprints with daily standups. We also follow other agile ceremonies like sprint planning, playbacks and retrospectives. We use Zenhub for tracking each sprint.
    • What did you do yesterday?
      • Worked on HacktoberFest! (http://ibm.biz/cfcfrjhandbook)
    • What will you do today?
      • Write Helm charts for a open source project I am a contributor in (https://github.com/Pyrrha-Platform)
    • Are there any impediments in your way?
      • None

Currently, I'm looking at constructing a knowledge graph to construct a toy example for making more culturally competent conversational agents as per a talk I gave at a workshop at AKBC last week. I know that Rasa allows for the framework of KG + chatbot, but I'm wanting to make this a voiced agent.

I'm looking at a crowdsourcing task as well in real-time that's proving a challenge and ways to derive knowledge and opinions from opinions for maybe building a chatbot to discuss misinformation.
