Hello Oscar and welcome! From the research I've done about this career path and entering it, it all depends on your budget (money and or time). There's no set or specific way to go about the Data Science life. If you have money to burn/spare there are bootcamps and online courses (ie coursera, udemy, udacity etc.). There are also websites that teach you how to code step by step like data camp. This isn't even counting the millions of books that explain how to code (I personally love anything by no starch press and o'reilly media). Lots of data science sites definitely recommend having a github portfolio of projects you've done with data so employers can look at the work you've done. Sources for stuff like that would be the capstone projects found in classes that you would take to learn about data science. There are free resources too like with IBM Cognitive Class ai and microsoft learn. Something else to decide is what languages you would pursue to learn and practice your data science skills. Your best bet is to learn the mathematically oriented languages that are out there such as MATLIB and R. I hope this helps.
