  • 1.  Ouput window not showing Split / Select / etc. actions

    Posted Mon November 08, 2021 08:41 AM
    Dear Forum,

unfortunately, I strongly suspect my own inaptitude as the culprit. However, I cannot seem to make SPSS show me split / select / or similar operations in the output window thus making it hard to keep track on which file and which case subsets operations are performed on.

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

    Cheers for the input,

    J.

Open a syntax file and run the command:

    SET PRINTBACK=LISTING.

then try your commands again., You should see the commands that were run echoed back to Output window. Maybe that will help....?

Also, consider adding TITLE and SUBTITLE commands to your syntax, if you haven't already done that.

    Dear Mr. Marcantonio,

here my reply to publicly view. I accidentally replied to you directly.

    SET PRINTBACK=LISTING.

    works like a charm.

Any chance to automate that? I seem to remember my previous SPSS version having that setting by default....

Cheers for the swift and helpful replies.

    J.

SET PRINTBACK is remembered across sessions. You can verify that by closing your current session, starting a new one, opening a syntax window and running SHOW PRINTBACK. It should say 'Yes'.
