  • 1.  Power analysis for spearman rho

Hi, I want to conduct a power analysis for spearman, and reading some instructions here: Power Analysis of One-Sample Spearman Correlation Test
I have been asked to input a power for sample size estimation value. The value must be a single value between 0 and 1. Does this mean the rho value I would consider a good finding such as >0.7? Thank you

The power is the probability of detecting an effect given a sample size and the hypothesized correlation.  So, if you want a power of .8 when the true correlation is ,2, you would enter .8 in the Power field and .2 for the Spearman correlation.   That gives a required N of 198 for a null of 0.

If the true correlation is .5, you would only need an N of 33.
