PCA data analysis

  • 1.  PCA data analysis

    Posted Tue August 04, 2020 09:15 AM

    Hi,
When running the SPSS, I encountered difficulty to execute the PCA statistical analysis and I received error message displayed as "A fatal error has occurred and the client can no longer communicate with the server". I rebooted and shutdown my Mac (OS Catalina) computer and still nothing happened and error messages re-appeared.

I am using Griffith University SPSS service licence connected to my personal working at home. Is this is a problem with server?

Any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you. Ujang

I suspect that you need to install the fixpack for V26 on Mac.  The Catalina upgrade broke some code in 26, but FixPack 1 addressed the issue.   See

    Hi Jon,

Thank you for your advice on upgrading to SPSS 26.0.0.1 using Fix Pack 1. However, when I checked my SPSS version in Mac computer, and it is Release 26.0.0.1 version. Do I still need to download the Statistics 26.0.0.1 Fix Pack to upgrade?

Any further advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Ujang

No, the fixpack produces 26.0.0.1, so you already have it.  Sorry, I don't have any other ideas here, but I am not a Mac person,

    Hi Jon,

I appreciate your time to help. Is there anybody there of the SPSS community who could offer advice and help to fix my problem with SPSS (v26.0.0.1) when PCA data was analysed? See below my earlier email:

"When running the SPSS, I encountered difficulty to execute the PCA statistical analysis and I received error message displayed as "A fatal error has occurred and the client can no longer communicate with the server". I rebooted and shutdown my Mac (OS Catalina) computer and still nothing happened and error messages re-appeared".

     Much appreciated for any help.

    Thank you. Ujang

    Hi Ujang

This problem occur because of the incompatibility between the version or incorrect permission setting

So in order to solve this problem try to give permission to these

Go to start > run > Type regedit and hit enter

    Find these paths

    ·         HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSPSS

    ·         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESPSS

    ·         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENtpad

    ·         HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARERainbow Technologies

Give Full control to these files. In order to give permission right click on the file and modify and give full control

    Best of Luck!

    Thank you Jon.

I think for mac users , IBM support forum should be helpful.

    https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/s/question/0D50z000062ksK2CAI/unresolved-attempt-to-connect-to-a-remote-server-failed-inetlocal-computer0-upon-spss-24-installation-on-sierra-10122-macbook-pro?language=en_US

I hope he finds the solution.
