  • 1.  help with syntax for string variables

    Hi,

    I have a problem regarding string variable. I didn't find nothing on the web regarding my problem. I need to change specific answers in a string variable. So I have a string variable that contains a 500 different text values, since it was an open question so respondents wrote different things. So what I need to do is to replace only a few of those responses into same text (hidden value), while others stay the same as in original variable, by creating a new variable. If I change all values in variable it is not a problem, but choosing only specific responses is. Is this even possible? Is there any solution so I don't need to write all responses that I want to change separately, as I sad I have a lot of variables and also a lot of responses in each one, so it would be very time consuming.

    I hope I described my problem ok and that someone can help me regarding this.

    I thought I saw an answer to this earlier, but have you tried using the REPLACE function to accomplish this task?  If that does not work, please explain why.
