Happy Master's week to golf fan's around the world! With the "Tradition Unlike Any Other" kicking off today in Augusta, GA today, IBM announced a partnership with golf's most storied tournament in which users will have access to a new "MyGroup" feature. This will allow users to create a list of players they're most interested in and, with the help of IBM Watson, keep up with must-see shots using a hypothetical excitement score generated from 20,000 individual clips of shots captured during last year's tournament as a baseline. What are everyone's thoughts on AI playing an increasing role in the sports experience over the last few years?

This is a very interesting partnership. Great application on the the capabilities of IBM Watson

This is a great idea! As long as the clips were presented in chronological fashion. NFL has been doing something similar with their RedZone where they show Football plays when the ball is within 20ish yards of the endzone, but it lacks the personal selection of teams and I'm not sure how much AI is involved in an excitement score as they show almost all plays in sequence (or sometimes in split screen - which works for large 4K TVs quite well - that would also be interesting for the Masters)

Hey, Doug! Yeah, I think Redzone is completely divorced from this concept - one of their slogans is "Everyday touchdown from every game." I believe they simply have analyst keeping an eye on every game and then giving Chris Hanson and the directors a heads up when there's "big play potential" :)
