Metadata Day 2020 on Monday, December 14 is a convening of world experts in graph-based methods for dataset discovery, metadata exchange, and other topics related to AI Trust, data governance, compliance, and making data science teams more effective.

Mandy Chessell from IBM (Egeria, Apache Atlas) will join along with expert practitioners from LinkedIn, Lyft, Netflix, Airbnb, Uber, PayPal, and more. There are several open source projects in this emerging category: Amundsen, Data Hub, DataBook, Marquez, etc., with enterprise adoption at other firms including Square, ING Bank, Workday, Edmunds, etc.  Lyft, in particular, estimates ~30% lift on the effectiveness of their data science teams as a result of adopting this practice.

"Metaspeak" is a public meetup where these practitioners will present the outcomes from their workshop earlier in the day, and be available on panels for public Q&A.  Two of the main topics are: "Use cases for dataset discovery and metadata tools" and "Best practices for managing these platforms at scale".  The meetup run 4pm-6pm US Pacific.  We plan to follow-up with another meetup for EU timezones.
