That is a very interesting projects. I am certain you could derive good results using sentiment Analysis algorithm.
However please do note that human emotions run deeper than just words. Sarcasms in text could also affect use of algorithms. Hence, I would suggest using deep learning tools and using your won intuition to fine tune the models. Do shar your work if possible.
