Can we bring up something to replace AI as Developers?

Is there any way we can bring another technology to replace AI by any chance?

    Hi!

I would like to answer with a quote (https://quoteinvestigator.com/2016/02/01/computer/):

Albert Scott Crossfield was a prominent American test pilot who had achieved speed records while flying experimental aircraft. He delivered a compact comical summary of human uniqueness in the form of an interrogative. Boldface has been added to excerpts:

"Where can you find another non-linear servo-mechanism weighing only 150 pounds and having great adaptability, that can be produced so cheaply by completely unskilled labor?" Mr. Crossfield" inquired.

In fact, my answer is not simply meant as a joke. It is still a valid engineering questions, whether human beings are best suited for a particular task.

A more data science related answer would be to try machine learning algorithms, that are less powerful regarding generalization, but offer better explainability (like regression models or random forests). It depends...

    Cheers
    Rudolf

So you want to replace AI.
Well, I do not consider AI as technology.
I consider it as applied statistics.
Perhaps we should learn to better distinguish between AI, ML, DL, Robotics, Sensors, Automation and Forecasting.
We can change the programming languages that are doing AI.
We can work on more efficient algorithms for image, signal and visual recognition.
There is a CPU and GPU in my laptop. Maybe we need an AIU.
I think some startups and grownups are already working on that.

    Oh, that's true.

Thanks so much for this, Matthias!

You should note the distinction. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a Science. AI Computing is a Technology - a set of functional tools, hardware, software, pipelines, services - developed from the knowledge of the AI Science.

AI Technologies will come & go, as most technologies eventually mature or obsolete, over generations, though some persist, as other enabling technologies become developed.  "Artificial Intelligence" itself will continue to evolve as a science, a body of knowledge drawing from many foundational disciplines.
