Data Replication

    Dear Members

I am a developer cum DBA working for a services company.

Analysing a requirement to move data from IMS to DB2 ( within Z/OS)

Understand that DPROP could be a just enough tool to use.

Havent checked with IBM yet officially, but I understand support for DPROP was closed in 2017.

Is anyone here still using it in Z/OS ?  Would you know if it is still available to buy ?

Tried to post a question in IBM site, but it asks for a more official form of the IBM id.  I have an IBM id but it is a personal IBM id and not a corporate id.

    Regards

Hi, we have current (in support) technologies and offerings that provide the capability to replication from IMS to Db2 z/OS. Here is a link to a relevant section of the documentation: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSTRGZ_10.2.1/com.ibm.cdcdoc.classiccdcforzos.doc/concepts/aboutinfosphereclassicchangedatacapture.html

    Hi Devendra

    Thank you much

so this is CDC about which i also read the link below

    I see that the destination can be AS400 Db2 also ( DB2/400 )

So I should be able to setup relocation between IMS on Z/OS and   Db2 on  AS400  ?

If so, the initial table definitions, data mapping etc.. is it also covered in this product ?

    Thanks for your reply

    Regards

    Hello

The documentation includes all the steps to configure replication
You will need to install the following components to replication from IMS to DB2 on z or i (DB2/400)
    1) IMS Classic CDC Agent
    2) Classic Data Architect - GUI to provide a relational view to CDC of the hierarchical data
    3) Management Console - GUI to manage monitor and configure replication
    4) Access Server - Service to facilitate and manage connections from the Management Console to the source and target replication agents
    5) CDC Target agent(s) for DB2z and DB2i etc

    Robert
