Masa yum,
The IBM MDM Advanced Edition was created by a Toronto (Canada) software company, DWL (named for the last names of the founders), which was a pioneer in the marketplace starting in the late 1990s. DWL was purchased by IBM Software in 2005 and became part of the WebSphere brand as WebSphere Customer Centre (WCC). Before being widely defined as Master Data Management, this software segment was known as Customer Data Integration (CDI), which was an advancement of the then-new, Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Early and briefly in the life of the MDM-AE product, before IBM, it was described as providing 'Transactional CRM,' which was adopted in the naming of the tag hierarchy as the topmost element. Thanks for asking!
