    Good Morning,

     

    We have an issue that I'd like to put out there to see if anyone can offer suggestions or comments.

     

    We have a 5TB EMC Isilon share that we would like to use for archiving data. This share is available to the Optim servers and we have no issue in archiving directly to the EMC storage. The problem arises when we try to use Optim Connect Studio and DBVisualizer to query the data within the archive files.

     

    Typically we create a data source on the optim server and then use DBVis to connect to the data source and execute queries as we would from the source database.

     

    The issue is that DBVisualizer can't seem to find the target archive file to run the query against.

     

    Has anyone seen this issue? I created a PMR and have been told that Optim doesn't support this storage method so I get no help there.

    Which Optim connect ODBC/JDBC driver are you using? I would assume that you're using JDBC since DBViz prefers JDBC drivers. 
    Can you query the archive file via Optim Connect Studio? 
    What Data Source Type have you defined in Optim Connect Studio? 

    Optim Connect ODBC Thin Client 2.5 or 3.5? 
    OR
    Optim Connect JDBC 5.3.3.9? 

    I would test your Optim Connect ODBC/JDBC connection with Optim Connect Studio first, then excel or the averify.jar tool to verify your Optim Connect Server DataSource first.

    Hi Danny,

     

    Thanks for responding.

     

    I'll get back to this testing in the morning. I'll capture the screens to demonstrate the issue. If I put the files on a conventional disk on the server, I can browse with no issues...

     

    I'll provide the details tomorrow and perhaps we can get to the root cause. I 'suspect' it may be with the permissions on the EMC side but need to confirm.
