Looks like no replies here so I'll take a stab at it. The Optim Archive File "retention config" is very simple and very limited out of the box. There's a whole other IBM product to do more complex PSS retention rules, but let's first start with basic Optim Archive file Retention options.
Let's state some facts:
- You can enable auto delete or disable auto delete using the Optim Client. I prefer to suspend by default.
- You can manually manage archive file retention outside of Optim. (ugh, what a pain right? We do this as a secondary cross-reference by the way. )
- You can apply various retention logic on the Storage Profiles. Use the help files to learn more or test it in DEV. See how it behaves.
