    Posted Wed October 14, 2020 05:14 PM
It's that time again to gather ideas for the Panel Discussion segment of our quarterly OVUG meeting coming up on October 27.

Please post ideas or questions as replies in this thread that you would like the Optim User Panel to discuss during the meeting. This is your opportunity to have your questions addressed by multiple panel members whom have years of experience with the software.

Topics can be best practices, installing or upgrading Optim, how-to, etc., so let's get this conversation going!

Thank you for your participation and input.

*** If you are interested in participating as a Panel Member, please contact Marc Hebert.

Hi Keith!  I'd like to ask if anyone has connected to SQL Server 2019 as a data source.  If yes, any tips for those of us who may need to try it before it is officially supported?
    Thanks,
    Debptsj

    Hello Deborah,

    Try this below link,

Only thing you need to remember is that this zap setting will provide toleration support, any new features in 2019 will not be supported.

And explanation of support levels, just so you know if with this zap entry you are able to connect to the SQL Server 2019.

    Support levels

The support level for a version of a database is toleration or supported. If a database is provided at a toleration level, the Optim solution can connect to the data source. The Optim solution also supports data types and features supported in previous releases of the solution but does not support all features of the data source.

If a data source is supported, the Optim solution also:

    • Supports processing of the most common data types for the data source
    • Might support or exploit other new features of the data source

In addition, for relational databases, the Optim solution supports extracting object definitions for the database as well as preserving and using (with the Optim create utility) extracted objects.

    Thanks and regards,

And IBM support will not review your case if you face any issues.

Please use it on your own risk.

Thank you for the question, Deborah. I know SQL Server support is near and dear to many Optim users (including myself).

Everyone, please keep posting questions/topics you'd like to hear discussed by the Panel members. We always use our entire allotted time, so earlier submitted questions have a far better chance of being discussed during the segment. Talk with you on Tuesday!
