  • 1.  onload utility runtime performance issue

    Posted Wed August 28, 2024 08:05 AM

    Hi

We have a problem with the onload utility runtime. We performing a full database load with onload. (the db is ~800 GB).

Currently the onload was executed more then 80 hours. I think there is a performance issue.

How can I improve the runtime for the onload utility?

Adding more AIO vp or adding more cleaner thread.

    Instance : IDS 12.10FC7

    thanks

With no performance metrics & data, it is hard to say what the issue is.

There could be a number of things.

How long did the onunload take?

When you check the CPU usage during the load, are there individual cores that are very busy?  Maybe use mpstat or nmon (AIX) to view this.  It's not so much overall CPU usage, but that of individual cores that might be limiting the speed.

    What TAPEBLK are you using?

Are you loading from a local filesystem or a network share?
