Is there a way to move custom image/snapshot from one region to another?

I actually wasn't able to find a way/documentation how to do this.

Hi Dmitry,

What service are you trying to move the image from?  Bare Metal server, classic VSI or Virtual Server for VPC?

Hey. Virtual Server for VPC.

Hi Dmitry,

Check out Step 3: Review the image details - Docs: Onboarding a virtual server image for VPC.

Generally, cloud-init is used for OS images and save the image into a COS (Cloud Object Storage) bucket.

On a side note, we recently introduced the catalog integration with VPC custom images where you can now import custom VPC images directly to your private catalog!

Hope that helps :-)

Hey. Thanks for the info. But actually I tried that, private catalog. I was able to add an image from the London, but when I hit this "Add region" it didn't give me any other region to choose. Hm.

Hi Dmitry,

Hmmm...  It's hard to tell why you are not seeing other regions, especially given the info you could freely share in the public forum.  It could be your IBM Cloud account's IAM (Identity & Access Management) including context-based restrictions related, or using services in another region is not set up yet, etc. etc...

The best course of action is likely opening a Support case via console or API, so that our friendly and helpful IBM Cloud Support team can happily assist you!

Hope that helps :-)
