Champions extend through the ecosystem

After reviewing 2000 nominations, IBM is proud and happy to announce the 735 members of the 2021 class of IBM Champions. This class represents the largest and most representative class of IBM Champions ever, including bringing the IBM Partner Ecosystem officially into the program for the first time.

The IBM Champions program recognizes excellence and expertise in innovative thought leaders in the technical community, and rewards these contributors by amplifying their voice and increasing their sphere of influence.

An IBM Champion is an IT professional, business leader, executive, developer, or educator who influences and mentors others to help them innovate and transform digitally with IBM products, offerings, communities, and services.

Among our newest class of IBM Champions:

  • 70% of 2020 IBM Champions renewed.
  • 2021 IBM Champions are 61% renewing or Lifetime and 39% are new Champions.
  • 56 countries are represented.
  • 11 business areas are included from AI Apps (Blockchain and Watson IoT) (7%), Cloud (Public Cloud and Automation) (15%), Data & AI (26%), Developer (4%), IBM Z (10%), Power Systems (12%), Storage (10%), to Security (10%) and the IBM Partner Ecosystem for the first time (5%).

These individuals evangelize IBM solutions and communities, share their knowledge, and help grow the community of professionals who are focused on IBM offerings. IBM Champions spend a considerable amount of their own time, energy, and resources on community efforts—organizing and leading user group events, answering questions in forums, contributing articles and applications, publishing podcasts, sharing instructional videos, and more.

As a reward, IBM Champions receive IBM Champion-branded merchandise, IBM Champion digital badges, and invitations and discounts to IBM conferences. They are highlighted online and recognized at events. In addition, they may be offered various speaking opportunities that enable them to raise their visibility and broaden their sphere of influence. They are recognized for the work they have done over the past year and supported and enabled with education and opportunities to do even more advocacy in the next year.
