Hi,

After some of our users upgraded their Macbooks the pdf version of one of our reports no longer works. We have seen the same problem in our smart phones before but did not try to solve it. Now the problem is bigger. I tried to create a new ugly report with stacked bar chart and we see the problem there as well. Is it the stacked bar in the gallery Charts that no longer works? We need to use that since we want to present many different measures and dimensions in the same visualization. Not as easy with the new visualizations.

Has anyone seen this and know of a solution? Examples shown below.

Yes. A long time ago. It was a known 'feature'.

PM77967: PDFS CONTAINING COGNOS 10 CHARTS (NEW CHARTING ENGINE) DO NOT RENDER CORRECTLY WHEN VIEWED ON IPHONE/IPAD VIA MAIL APPLICATION (ibm.com) 

This is a very old bug report. As the PDFs open ok in other applications then it's a problem with Apple's PDF viewer. But as Apple like to think they create the standards - It's a bit like the old browser wars.

If your users cant use an external PDF viewer (that works correctly) then you're looking for a work around.

Have you tried a very simple palette? Just colours, no gradients, patterns etc.

Aha so it has been a problem for that long. Strange that it keeps coming back like after the latest MacOS upgrade.

I tried to change the palette to a more simple one and got this strange result. The colors are shown in the legend but not in the bars. 

We really need to use the old version of the visualizations to be able to present all the combinations needed in the same chart as we do in the chart below. Annoying if it doesn't work without using third party pdf tools.

Not what you'll want to hear, but this is a test on an ipad i have at hand...

have you tried the legacy C8 charts?

It looks like the charts can be made to show some colour - a process of keep changing stuff until you get something that works.
