  • 1.  PaFE Action Button Advanced Parameter Mapping

    Posted 24 days ago

    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone could perhaps point me in the right direction with using Action Buttons in PAFE, controlling navigation from one PAFE book to another. I am attempting to apply some custom mappings, to pass through specific parameters. My goal is to do a SUBNM to SUBNM mapping, retaining the dropdown functionality on my target workbook.

I have attempted to follow the IBM provided example, where i have referenced the dimension name in the source and target object cells, but i receive the error message below.

Please find attached the mappings i have assigned to the action button:

Finally, i do not wish to use the "Match Titles" option, as i reference two parameters that have the same dim, a current version and plan version, both of wish use our version dimension but use different sets. By using match titles, it automatically overrides our Plan Version with a forecast version.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kane

    Hi Kane,

you could user the target type "named area" (something like this, I don't have the exact english translation of it at hand), pass the parameter into the specified name area in the target sheet, and use this cell as the index element in the subnm in your target sheet.

    Hi Kane,

What did you put in the Source and Target? The name of the dimension or the element? Based the name  you have in the screenshot, I assume it's either a subset or an element?

You need put the dimension name that you want pass in the "Source Objects" and "Target object".The navagation will find the subnm cell based on the dimension name then pass the element to the target. The "Set" is optional, however if you want to use it, it will be the subset name you want to set in the target Subnm formulas. .

    Hi Michael,

I put the dimension name 001 Main - Version dimension, with the set referenced in the sets section "Active Budgets".

Following the above, this is exactly what i done which unfortunately didn't work. I called IBM support and Sam seen my issue first hand and was looking for alternative options. I have two elements from the same dimension, a current version and budget version. When setting up my mappings, i referenced both sets in the mapping - not sure if this is the source of my issue, or whether the functionality is a little buggy.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Kane

try put the server name in the Source object, for example "ServerName:001 Main - Version" and Target object... I found in a couple version that I could just use ":DimensionName" to get around and don't need to specify the server name and most of time I don't have to put the server name in target.

    Hi Kane,

What did you put in the "Source Object" and "Target Object"? Dimension name, subset, or element?

For the map field to working properly, you need pass dimension name in both fields. The action button navigation function will find the correct data cell constains the Subnma formular for the diemension, get the element name and pass it to the target workbook. The "Set" field is optional, however if you want to use it, you need put the subset name you would like to pass to the target workbook dimension.
