Error in reports since migration to 11.2 (V5DataItem)

  • 1.  Error in reports since migration to 11.2 (V5DataItem)

    Posted Thu June 02, 2022 03:42 AM
    Hello all,

Has anyone experienced problems with reports since migration to 11.2?

We have several reports that are giving errors like this:
XQE-GEN-0005 Found an internal error: com.cognos.xqe.ast.v5.query.V5DataItem incompatible with com.cognos.xqe.ast.v5Exp.V5SimpleNode
XQE-PLN-0004 Found an internal error on node 'V5DataItem'. The rollupAggregate setting 'automatic' is either unsupported or invalid.

Do you know what causes this and how to solve it?

    Hi Danny,

This is a migration so what was the previous Cognos version? What is your datasource (database, version)? Is it CQM, DQM or datamodule?

    Hi Patrick,

We have migrated from v11.1.7 IF8 to v11.2.2 (Cloud version). Reports are build on a DQM package. The database where the data resides is SQL Server 2016 (13.0.6404.1).

    Hi Danny,

Do you use reports with relative date?

Updated to add a link to relative date analysis from the documentation.

    Hi,
do you know which data item causes this error? Have you tried to change the aggregation type from "automatic" to the one that fits to this column?

    Hi Danny,
Please log a bug with support.

They would likely need the report specification and the model that it is based on.

    Hello all,

The report itself has a list and crosstab using the same query.
I figured out that the problem is due to totals added on the crosstab.
These totals are added to the underlying query as well and then the list fails with the error mentioned.

As a workaround, i duplicated the query and used the query without the totals for the list and the query with the totals for the crosstab.

    Danny,

Go to the query and find the new added total. Set the aggregate function (in properties) to SUM instead of Automatic or Default.

    Hi all,

The story is a bit different from what I said before.
The query used in the crosstab (with the totals added) is used as a basis for another query (the one for the list).
It seems that this added totals in the first query can't be processed when generating the second query.
(In an ideal world, the totals should be ignored when generating the second query ;-)  )

Solution is the same as mentioned before: make 2 completely different queries.

We thought first it was a migration issue but it might be not. My colleague who made the report isn't any longer sure if he did the change before or after the migration.

    Yes, now I understand.

You have created new summaries using the cross table functionality. In that case, the sums you create only work within the context of that crosstab.

Another option is to create "manual" summaries on the "first" query. Their context (don't know what source you have, relational or dimensional?) Is then specified in the "aggregate within set" or "total .... for" function.

In my opinion, you will easily use such summaries in subsequent queries. And you are really right, I saw this behavior of the system also in earlier versions 8, 10 etc.
