Hi all (Please ignore the unhelpful title!) ,

Looking for a little bit of advice on an issue i am facing.

I have been developing a dashboard solution using PAX reports, with action buttons that pass you to different dashboard levels or supplementary reports. I am now at the stage of considering navigation to enable a extremely user-friendly experience.

In this example, i am looking to build in an back action button that would take you back to the dashboard level you came from however retaining your dashboard parameter selection, this could be a number of pages given the configuration of parameters to change the content shown on a supplementary report that has the ability to show a variety of different information.

For example, from a market dashboard you can arrive at a tabular exhibit of market information, all function information and cost centre level detail, equally you can go from a function page and arrive at the same exhibit but this time parameters will create the desired view of a function (function specific / all markets / function specific cc's). I am wondering if there are any simple out of the box options for building a back button into the interface, which will automatically take you back to your initial dashboard starting point.

Two possible routes i am considering at the moment.

    1. Concatenating a file path and setting that as the location of the report folder in the action button: Main Folder / Sub Folder 1  / Workbookname.xlsm, where the workbook name will be passed into the target book from the source book using action button parameters.
    2. A report name cube where each dashboard page is created in a dimension as elements, creating a 2 dimensional cube where i can store the back level page name, using DBRW formulas bring out the information in the cube.

One slight limitation of both approach's is that my workbook repository file structure is not flat. Dashboard - 1. Homepage / 2. Consolidated function / 3. Markets / 4. Functions etc, which makes both approaches a little tricker as the file path would change depending on where you are in the dashboard.

Have you every tried to achieve a similar goal before or do you have an suggests for a easier way of achieving the same goal and have any insights to share?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kane
