    We have three roles: role1, role2, role3 with members from active directory groups. They each have the exact same Cognos permissions. There is another role -  parent_role - that only contains role1, role2, and role3. We are wanting to consolidate role1, role2, and role3 into a single all_role. Want to know if the Cognos SDK can do the following and if anyone sees any issues or shortcuts with what we are planning.?

    (1) create all_role with same permissions as either role1, 2 or 3 (1,2, and 3 have identical Cognos permisisons)

    (2) copy members from role1, role2, role3 to all_role

    (3) insert all_role as member to parent_role

    (4) delete role1, role2, role3 from parent_role

    (5) delete role1, role2, role3

    Anyone comments or help would be appreciated in my question regarding what can the SDK do for roles and if my plan to reassign role members to new roles is sound.

    The IBM SDK team may be able to provide better advice.  In the past we used the SDK to change and modify roles,  consolidate roles and it does work.  We had a challenge with some users due to my folders usage that we had to make sure aligned to the new roles.

    HI Brenda,

    In general, anything you can do using Cognos Administration UI can be automated with SDK.

    Yes, all of this Roles manipulation can be done with SDK.

    Hello Brenda,

    we open sourced the SDK tool "Cognos Configuration Manager" (CoCoMa). It can do setup of user roles and rights as well as capabilities, create datasources, add dispatchers, dispatcher settings, do deployments, backups, extract users lists ...
