    ​Has anyone had issues with reports and job/events hanging in the 'pending' state in the Admin Console 'Current Activities' area?

    We have restarted the Services, which did not correct the issue.  We have also rebooted the server and still that did not resolve the issue either.

    I can run a report in the Cognos user interface and it completes, then look at the admin console and it appears in the pending state.  Reports back up throughout the day also in the pending state.

    As far as the Events (with conditions) compared to prior days they are running an extreme amount of tine for very simple event checks that typically take a few minutes.

    Any ideas?  No updates have been made to Cognos.  I'm not aware of any updates made on the server.

    I had the same issue. I stopped all my Cognos dispatchers and started/tested one by one. Kill existing Cognos service if it is running, and keep a minimum level of cog log files before starting the Cognos service. I am maintaining the load balancing in the apache web server and changed the priority of the dispatcher. It works for me. But I am not sure; It is the right solution.

    We too are experiencing this same issue and have been since upgrading from Cognos BI 10.2.2 to CA 11.0.13.

    To resolve this quickly, we have found that "nudging" (start - no need to end) the Batch Report Service on the effected dispatchers typically resolves the situation (Administration Console > System > All Servers > Services).

    However, we have opened a Service Request (or whatever they are calling them these days) with IBM.
    IBM has suggested for now that we run the NC_DROP script.
    We have run this, but not enough time has elapsed to say if this has resolved the problem.
    If the situation continues we will providing IBM with additional enhanced logging details.

    I will update this thread should the situation be resolved or when we receive further information from IBM.

    Thank you so much for this insight.  I will definitely ​​try this next time we have the issue.  Normally, we restart the IBM and TomCat Services.  That usually works, but on the occasion it doesn't we have to reboot the server.

    It's now been about two weeks since we ran the NC_DROP scripts and, knock-on-wood, we've not had a re-occurrence of the issue since.
    However, as it was always an intermittent issue, we are still considering ourselves in a "too early to tell" status.

    We are OEM to Cognos and some of our customers had the same problem. The root cause boils down to having different timezone configured in cognos server than the local time zone of the server.

     

    You can check and confirm if that is the case.
