There isn't a single browser recommendation.    Some components, such as Analysis Studio, are not supported in all browsers.   You need to understand your organization's requirements and IT policies.  You need to understand what sorts of trade-offs will be necessary to consider.

This web page can help you learn more.

    Hi Lakshmi,

According to IBM: IE, Chrome and Firefox are all supported. (Don't use Microsoft Edge)

    From my experience:
IE:  works best of you are developing (also, it is the only one supporting legacy tools)
Chrome: I found it to be buggy when developing using the Reporting tool - but it performs better if you are simply running reports.
Firefox:  (I have not used it)

    Hope this helps!

That's useful information - I just thought I was missing something when I tried to use Chrome. I tend to default to IE these days, even though my preferred browser is Chrome. Edge just doesn't play nicely with Cognos, and I haven't used FF in years.

Word of caution, FF release 68 has broken the interactive reporting so if you are using FF make sure to stay with the recommended versions on the supported environments web site as suggested by IAN

    Hi Lakshmi,

In addition to the comments about what is supported or not in terms of browser, you can see what configuration settings are required for each here:

    Web browser settings

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cr_rptstd.doc/c_cr_rptstd_intrd_browser_set.html

You can also see what each Browser will support in terms of UI functionality.  For example, from the 11.1.3 link:

    https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity-reports/report/html/prereqsForProduct?deliverableId=1A5815B061C611E982882C5D069DA07A#!

If you click "View" beside a Vendor's browser and then select the "Components" tab, you can see what would support the legacy
    studios.

As Ian says...    it seems to depend CRITICALLY on what Cognos elements you want to use.... and that may mean different browsers for different communities (uurgh).   Eg one site I know users IE for its developers and Power users but Chrome for report recipients (as Chrome is their SOE and easier to support internally).   Maybe IBM can provide a "better answer" with a simple "browser / Module" matrix. (obviously subject to change across versions)

IBM will remain agnostic when it comes to recommending browsers or even the OS for the install.
At best the supported environments web site should be referenced for compatibility then its up to you to determine what is best in your environment.  Personally I have used Chrome for years unless I needed one of the legacy studios.  Turns out that might be a good long term strategy as even Microsoft will be changing their browser to the Chromium engine.
<but that is just my opinion>

Thanks Norbert, I understand the Agnostic position, but it's the difficulty to determine the module/capability vs browser compatibility.   Even Trevor in his reply points us a multi-step "view" navigation process.     A quicker matrix summary would make like easier. Anyway, it is what it is... and not everyone (? well maybe most) clients still use/need the legacy modules.

I think the easy answer is that the Legacy Studios are supported by IE and FF and all tasks in the CA Glass UI are supported by all the browsers listed on the supported environments site.
