PAW Time Series Line Chart with Separate Year and Month Dimensions

Struggling to get a single time series line chart in Workspace with our cubes having separate Year and Month dimensions. Just end up with multiple lines for each year or each month. Is this not possible with two dimensions?! Can't find anything related online and no matter how i orientate the underlying table i just cannot get it to fall out. Surely this must be possible without creating a new cube with a single time series dimension?!

    Hi,

Unfortunately, I am not aware of any way to join dimensions to create a single line.  You might be able to do a stacked column chart with the months stacking on a year column.

For your information on future cube creation, now that PA has hierarchies, it is possible to split a single continuous time dimension to display it as two hierarchies with one being year and another being month.

    Good luck!

    Hi Scott,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, a monthly stack isn't really going to show us the trend over time we need. I'm pretty amazed that given year and month dimensions were considered best practice up until hierarchies that we are unable to see trends over time for what was supposed to be a planning and budgeting tool! I have added this as a feature request. One can live in hope!

    Thanks,

    Ben
