    Hello! I am currently using the free platform offered by Cognos Analytics tool and I want to ask a few questions about how to utilize the tool in the most efficient way so that I can analyze my reports generated using LoA (Netview Level of Automation) tool.

    1. I uploaded my sample reports on the MY CONTENT folder of Cognos tool. Is there a way to upload my reports on the TEAM CONTENT option without having to share the reports with the global team of my Geo?
    2. I am trying to use the Report option to create a new report based on the data upload. Is it possible to create a new Report  for my sample reports which I upload on MY CONTENT folder?
    3. I created a few dashboards. However, I am not able to enlarge or modify the size of the created dashboards. Is there a way to find a workaround for the same?
    4. I want to share the Dashboards I'm creating across the Cognos platform to another user who is using the Cognos Analytics tool(free platform) as well. I went ahead and used the SHARE option after selecting a dashboard saved in the MY CONTENT option.However, no other user is able to access the shared link I am creating using the SHARE option. How can I share the Analysis report with other Cognos users?
    5. Is there a way to analyze multiple reports or create reports for multiple files on Cognos simultaneously?
    6 . How can I create a report on Cognos to generate top ten most used commands based on any particular report? I am sorting the report in ascending/descending order however the sorting option stops to work as soon as I try to apply a Filter to the report data.

    I would really appreciate any workarounds which can help utilize the independent version of the Cognos Analytics tool. Please revert as soon as possible. Thank you.

    Hi Sakshi,

    1. Uploaded files default to your My Folder when first uploaded.  Based on your folder permissions, you should be able to move/copy anywhere in Team Content you have WRITE access.  Not sure what you mean by "upload" reports as there is no desktop tool in Cognos, I assume you mean Upload Data.
    2. Uploaded files can not be directly used in the Reporting tool.  You need to create a Data Module first to use Reporting.  For Dashboards, Cognos actually creates an invisible Data Module behind the scenes to make it easier for Dashboard users.   Users are not able to see any of this happening.
    3. Dashboards have limited properties that can be adjusted.  Most of the widgets in the tool can be increased/decreased by dragging the top/bottom, left/right edge.  You need to try different visualizations/widgets to see what properties are available and find the best option.  If you need more control, switch to Reporting.
    4. Lots of issues/assumptions with this.  Your My Content area can never be accessed by another user outside of an Admin. Also assuming the user is also a tenant in the same environment, they would be able to view the dashboard if you moved it to a folder in team content that they also have access to.
    5. You can combine multiple uploaded files in a Data Module.  This also relates back to your question #2.  I would recommend looking into this tool for most of your needs.
    6. You should be able to sort and/or do a top 10 based on your visualization type. I'm not sure what your data looks like, so if filtering it causing this to stop working it is probably data related.
