We upgraded to Cognos 11.0.13.1 last fall and I'm having issues writing spiffy visualizations.  For example: a bar for a budget and the expenditures already charged to that budget.  Back when we had the Cognos 10 version, we had the new visualizations and the old charts.  I really miss having both options and wonder if our Sys Admin forgot to load something in the upgrade.  Or, if the older graphs were removed from the menu items.

In searching for Congos 11 visualization tutorial videos, I'm finding very basic stuff.  If you have a favorite Youtube poster, would you mind sharing with this thread or contacting me privately?

    Thank you

    Hi @Jeanie Krieger,

Although, I encourage using latest visualizations as they support browser-side data storage for improved performance and interactivity.

You can switch back to Legacy charts as follows.

Recent versions of Cognos also supports custom visualizations, so you can build and use custom visualizations in your reports and dashboards.

Most of the out of the box visualizations are self explanatory with brief description for user's understanding.

Please feel free to share sample dataset (preferably csv/excel) for any help with of your specific scenarios.

We will be happy to help.

When you add a visualization check in the top right corner.  There should be a drop-down for the older charts there.  If you used some of the late 10.2.2 early 11 rave visualizations, you might need to have your admin download them and upload them into the library.

    Hello,

As Todd suggests, for RAVE visualizations (that were introduced in 10.2.1) you need to import them using the Administration portal. You can even edit the associated JSON files to create your own RAVE visualizations and use the same method to import them. There is a Visualization Customizer if you want to do this: https://community.ibm.com/community/user/businessanalytics/blogs/kevin-mcfaul/2016/06/24/cognos-business-intelligence-cognos-analytics-visualization-customizer

11.1.4 introduced more modern visualization methods that you might prefer. 11.1.7 is the latest release and has even more out of the box. Here is a post on creating your own visualizations using the new engine: https://community.ibm.com/community/user/businessanalytics/blogs/ian-oeschger/2019/10/31/your-data-your-visuals-custom-visualizations-with

BTW 11.1.7 is the long term support release for the 11.1.x stream so you might like to consider starting the upgrade from 11.0.13. =)
