  • 1.  URL sending parameters problem

    Posted Tue June 01, 2021 07:16 AM
Hi, I am sending Cognos parameters, namespace, user and report thorough out URL link to other application. Until yesterday everything worked fine. The problem evolved with report that uses native SQL in query, where I have got error: User defined SQL is not permitted to the user who has the identity Eveyone, Contoller User.

The mystery is the all other reports that are regular, non SQL are working, but this one SQL does not work. From Cognos side of administration we did not change anything for months, user is in the same role group, nothing changed and he can run all other reports through out URL. Even this user can run this SQL report from Cognos, but I got error when I run it as a URL.

This one report is SQL and tables are is in different table space in DB. Except this only changes that has been made is that server administrators migrated Cognos server to new virtual machine, but they say that everything is same.

Does anyone has idea what could get wrong, because like I said, I as a Cognos administrator did not change anything.

    Thanks

    Hi Veljko,
Please have a look at the following support page information: User defined SQL is not permitted for the user running reports. (ibm.com)
Hopefully it sheds a light on what might be going on.

@HENK CAZEMIER Thanks. I have done that, but still error. The problem is that first time I did not set any of these requirements and it was working.

Also, user can execute SQL report from the Cognos, but when it is send by URL than I got error.

@Veljko Can you open the report in edit mode and save it again. If seen similar issues in the past if the package was recently updated or the linked ID to the package was lost

@DENNY NAREZNY I have done all that, and nothing was changed from july last year. I have tried this on test Cognos server, where I do not have users defined, there URL runs this SQL report with no problem.

@Veljko Can you confirm if the user being passed in the url to run the report is the same user that logins to Cognos that can run the report? Also, you as system admin, can you run the report via the URL?

@DENNY NAREZNY Yes, the same user can run report when  logins to Cognos, but not through out URL. Me as a as system admin, when I send my credentials also can not run the report from the URL, but this specific SQL report. All other reports, that are not SQL, specific user can run via the URL.
