Actually a very old topic, but I have to ask you again how you do it:

Our consumers should only work with report views.

The source reports are all in one folder - but this folder must not be visible (not even via the search).

Actually, I expect it to enable the following permissions. But using "traverse" the folder is also visible again?!

P.S. The "HIDE flag" is not a solution, because report creators should see the folder.
P.P.S. in another environment, I put the team content home page for consumers on a subfolder ... but this is not a nice solution either...

    Hi Jens Bäumler,

this seems a bit tricky, since I would solve this with the folder hidden for the Viewer and not hidden for the developer. Another option might be to move the source folder to another folder outside the Security# folder and set the permission aside the Security# folder.
Btw, isn't it necessary for a user to have at least read permissions on the source report to run the report view?

    Best regards,
    Timm

    Hi Timm.

Yes, the permissions for the reports must have read & execute permissions. But I would like the "traverse" permission on the folder to ensure that you can't see the folder, but are still allowed to run the reports under it.

Currently I think that should be a customization on the software.

Probably the hiding is still the best way.
The "problem" with the hidden flag is that you can't make it role dependent. In our case, only the administrators are allowed to see the hidden objects - the report creators are not.

    Hi Jens,

Have you looked into this feature?

    Manage -> Configuration -> System -> Advanced Settings -> Permissions filter ?
"This property is a permission filter that is applied to content when it is navigated in UI. Objects are displayed if user has any of specified permission."

As far as I know it will also restrict users from finding it in a search.

    Thanks Trevor!!!!!

That's what I was looking for. In the advanced settings you can decide with which rights an object is displayed.

In the default installation "traverse" is listed here.

If you delete this (and if you want, also execute) from the list, everything is as desired.
TRAVERSE works, but the folder is not visible.

    Now, I'm happy again :-)
