Cognos error - ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 32 in tablespace TEMP

    ​On occasion we have reports that return with the error listed below.
    What's the cause of this?  Is restarting services/clearing cache on cognos server the best resolution?


    RSV-SRV-0063 An error occurred while executing the 'asynchRunSpecification_Request' command. XQE-DAT-0001 Data source adapter error: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 32 in tablespace TEMP

    Hi Jen

    The error is coming from your datasource database (Oracle) server.

    You will have to talk to your DBA regarding what could cause this error. When the TEMP space is full, you can get this error on multiple Cognos reports.
    It could be caused by a Cognos report with a large dataset, that the database is trying to sort in the Temp space, or it could be caused by other applications using the same Oracle server/database.

    A solution could be to let the Oracle server extend the TEMP space if the disk space is not an issue. Otherwise it would be best to look into which large/long runnnig reports running at the time of the error to find the root cause. Then look into if the report could be designed in another way.
