    Hi all,

    I'm struggling with a strange behavior of Cognos Analytics 11.1.
    Using an uploaded excel file, I drag&drop a measure (i.e. Revenue) in a blank dashboard.
    As in previous versions, I would view a summary of a revenue as displayed in the following image:

    Differently, after drag and drop the following visualization is displayed

    So, by default, I would like a summary visualization and NOT a table visualization
    In this case,  for each measure, I have to edit the automatic visualization changing it from Table to Summary in order to obtain the exptected result.

    Have you idea about this behavior? Shall I edit any configuration?

    Many thanks in advace for your support

    Hello @Camillo Gioè ,

    What version did you upgrade from? and did you do an over the top install or a fresh install?

    My guess would be either the browser is caching previous version of JS files, or one of the components were not upgraded to CA 11.1.1.

     - To confirm browser cache, could you try clearing your cache or try a different browser?

     - To confirm if a component was not updated, assuming you have a multi-sever install (Gateway, Content Manager, Dispatcher), you will need to check the build version for each component. You can do this by comparing the cmplst.txt file between each component.

    Hi @DENNY NAREZNY,

    I tried to clear all history of Chrome and the i tried to create a new dashboard as described in my previous post but the results is the same
    I cleared the history in Firefox too but the same is the result

    I upgraded from 11.0.12 or 11.0. 7 (i don't remember...) using a single gateway

    Have you any other advices, please?

    Many thanks!

    @Camillo Gioè I've tested doing an in place upgrade from CA 11.0.7 to CA 11.1.1 and CA 11.0.12 to CA 11.1.1 , but I cannot replicate.

    The issue looks unique to your environment setup/configuration. I would suggest logging a case with our support team: https://www.ibm.com/mysupport/

    I have observed this behavior as well. I believe it was resolved by installing FP1 or FP2, but definitely on base 11.1.1 the visualization algorithm did not select the appropriate output, including rendering summaries as lists.

    Hi Camillo,

    Not sure if you are still having this issue, but I recently worked with another client that was having the same issue.
    The problem was resolved after adding a WLP parameter to the server.xml file.
    In your environment check the file <CA Install>\wlp\usr\servers\cognosserver\server.xml.
    Open the file and confirm if the parameter classloading useJarUrls is present.

    If that parameter is not in the file, save a backup of the file first. Then edit and find the lines:
    <executor coreThreads="100" maxThreads="1500"/>
    <include location="${install.dir}/configuration/bi-services.xml"/>

    Below those lines add the following:

    <!-- The setting below will ensure that URL's use the "jar" protocol rather than "wsjar", which is the default in WLP. Some 3rd party libraries rely on this. -->
    <classloading useJarUrls="true"/>

    Save file, restart services and re test.

    When this parameter is not present, there is an issue in the way java uploads jar files to memory. This is related to an APAR for WLP:

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1PM99378

    For Cognos Analytics, this parameter was added in 11.0.7. However for customers that upgraded from previous versions using the "on top" approach, the server.xml file is preserved and would not add the changes.

    Hope this helps!
