Hello
@Jim DentonI understood that you would like to see:
00101-Count:4
00103-Count:2
Create a query containing substring("Subnum",1,5) + one query item with "COUNT(1 for substring("Subnum",1,5))". Have autosummarize selected in your query.
Depending on your datamodel and the indexed columns there might be a faster / more elegant solution.
See theses screenshots for details:
Gives me the numer of items per AccAreaID:

Subject: First post / new Cognos user: How do I create a list containing only the summary rows?
Hi all,
This is my first post and I just started using Cognos this week. I am working toward creating some KPI reports for a client, and came across a challenge I haven't figured out. I have a list with summary counts, and I want ONLY the summary rows, not the data rows, for a brief summary chart. I haven't found a way to hide the other rows.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. At some point I want to create a bar chart but haven't been able to figure out how to get the data in there yet, so will tackle that in the future.
Jim
