  • 1.  Is there a Planning Analytics Workspace post upgrade script or PAW process for upgrading existing content

    Posted Tue October 19, 2021 01:06 PM
I have recently upgraded Planning Analytics Workspace.  When I open the existing content in PAW, I get a message that says "Your dashboard has been upgraded.  Save now to maintain optimum performance."  Is there a script or PAW process I can run after a PAW upgrade that will automatically upgrade and save the existing content so that users don't see this message each time they open the content after an upgrade?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dong,
It's not possible to turn off the messages on the upgrade and the book opening for the first time.

It's done on your side to make sure there is the understanding of the slower book performance because it's going through the upgrade.
As soon as the book will be saved, that message will not appear again.

We are planning to reduce the number of iterations where this is necessary, so that not every upgrade will have that message just the one where the performance going through the upgrade is noticably longer.

    Hi Sveltana,

I'm actually not looking to turn off the messages but to run some kind of script that will automatically do the upgrade on the content after I have upgraded PAW.  As an example, in Cognos Analytics after upgrading versions, there is a Report Upgrade process that I can run that goes through and upgrades all the objects that I selected.  I can select individual objects or entire folders and run the process. This way all objects are now optimized in the new version without end users having to do anything after an upgrade.  Is this available in PAW?

    Best regards,

    Hi Dong,
The PAW upgrade happens on your side so unfortunately it can not be scripted.

    Hi Svetlana,

Does this mean that if I open the book and save it after it has been optimized, Another user that uses that same book will get the optimized message and has to save it again because it is happening on the user side and not on a per object basis?

    Thank you,
