    HI,

I am trying to find out if there is a way or a way planned to be able to update underlying references on various objects within a PAW book/sheet.

I have two models that are for all intents and purposes identical. I create a sheet for one then do a Save As to a folder for the other.
I cannot however update the view without having to remove, drag it in from the other model and change all the settings, formats etc.
Similarly, if I have added a cell from a cube view to the sheet, there is no way to change it to point to any other reference. You have to delete then reconfigure from scratch, changing properties, conditional formatting etc.

Am I missing something or is this a limitation that needs to be added as an idea on IBM Data and AI

Edit: Ideally looking to change a reference analogous to editing a reference or DBRW if this were an Excel sheet.

    Hi George,

At the moment there is not an easy way to do this sort of "migration" for end users but if you are an Administrator in Workspace you can use the Lifecycle Management and utilise the "database mapping settings" (the small gear icon that is easy to overlook above "Create Snapshot" and "Manage Snapshots".)
This will allow you to specify the source and target servers and then you can migrate your books from one to the other - you can do "1 to 1" or "many to 1" but you do have to migrate the whole book and it will create a new book in your personal folder that you then have to "publish" for everyone else to see.
I've used this method to do migrations between differently named services on the same box and different boxes (adding the export/import step) and it does the job, I've mostly used it where my dev and prod instances have different names but all the same objects.

On the second part regarding cell references and conditional formatting etc... I don't think I have come across anything yet that would help.

    thanks,

    Declan

Thanks for the feedback Declan. Appreciate it.

LM does seem like the way to go for now to copy my books across models.
I will play around and see what I can accomplish.
