I have a view which shows facilities as rows, and has a column named "A_Cost".

I am trying to find facilities whose name matches a string and whose A_cost is zero.

I am able to use a snap command such as -

    find "this type of facility"

It gives me the first instance of that facility - I really wanted to narrow the rows down by the matches, though - how do I do that using a snap command? (I cannot put the facility info on the top bar - it has to be displayed as rows).

I also wanted to use an additional command such as -

find "this type of facility" <for which A_cost is zero>

Can I achieve this using a snap command, and how?

    Another example -

<find all rows for which A_cost is zero and B_Multiplier is 1>

I found one document on snap commands but it seemed limited - if I can be pointed to the very latest and best, that would be helpful as well.

    Hi Shubho,

Are you looking at this content about Snap commands?

There are a couple of videos that demonstrate how to use the zero snap command and the find command to search for values in this blog:

    Hi Trish,

I just reviewed that link - it feels more comprehensive than the others I reviewed - and the video is helpful (thanks, Paul Glennon :) )

I am focused on the Select and Find functionality, to narrow down on the rows, columns and values I want to focus on.

Either the functionality is not as advanced as it needs to be, or more instructions are needed.

Here are some of the challenges I'm facing -

    (a) If I try to use select on Row members by typing in a member name, it tries to filter on column members - a little unpredictable in that sense. How do I force it to use a given dimension and not go more general?

    (b) I have Facility Types as rows, and a variety of Cost metrics as columns - the cell values are hence the costs for a facility type.

I am trying to narrow down on a Facility Type using its name as well as the value of a Cost Metric (either zero or a range of values).

I need to know how to achieve this using Select and Find. The examples provided so far don't seem to be working.

Essentially, the pseudocode would be something like this -

Give me a list of the Facilities whose names match "string A" and for whom Cost A has a value = 0 (or a value > 0) etc.

If someone can provide an example of achieving what is described above using Select or Find, that would be great.

The select snap command always searches across all hierarchies in the view for suitable matches. There is no way to scope it.

The find command can be scoped to rows or columns (or a specific hierarchy).

Neither can include a value expression.

You may need to use the set editor to achieve what you are looking for.
