  • 1.  Attribute hierarchy - best way to assign security?

    Posted Tue June 02, 2020 11:39 AM
    Hi,

I have quite recently taken attribute hierarchies into use in a customer production environment. We have created a couple of hierarchies within the Cost Center dimension and I am now about to create an update process to be run every night. All seem to be working fine, the TI process runs and the hierarchy is filled with parent elements from a specific attribute.

Now, to be able to automate this process I need to find out the best way to update the security on the hierarchy elements (not the leaf elements, they have a separate update process in place). I have tried to find a TI function for this purpose, but I have not yet found anything that works for me. Could someone please update me on how to best assign a specific access right ("READ" to a specific user group ("Super Users") connected to parent elements within a hierarchy, without having to manually go through all the elements within the Member Security in the PAW interface?

    Kind regards,

    Have you tried this?

    Thanks Ryan,

I have seen it but not yet tried it. I guess my overall understanding of how/where the hierarchy information is stored needs to be worked on. I will deep diver in the documentation and see if I can figure out a good practice, most likely with the HierarchyElementSecurityPut involved.

    Thanks again for your answer.
