  • 1.  Upgrade PAW from Rel.38 to Rel.46

    Posted Mon January 27, 2020 11:59 AM
    Hi,

    Current:

    Server 1: PA 2.0.6 (with about 20 TM1 servers)

Server 2: PAW Rel. 38 using Docker 17.06, provider: DockerMsft (with about PAW 25 books)

    How-to upgrade to:

    Server 1: PA 2.0.6 -> PA 2.0.8

Server 2: PAW Rel. 46 (provided with Docker 18.09.)

Could You advise how-to do it "step-by-step" ?

    Best regards,

    Adam

I don't have a step-by-step guide for upgrading, but I would recommend starting here if you have not already done so.

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSD29G_2.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_inst.2.0.0.doc/t_tm1_inst_upgrade_200.html

    Specific to Workspace:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSD29G_2.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_inst.2.0.0.doc/t_paw_backup_restore.html
    and
    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSD29G_2.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_inst.2.0.0.doc/t_paw_upgrade.html

Please let me know if you have a specific issue or concern with the upgrade.

    Hi Stuart,

    Thank You for Your answer.
How to do PAW upgrade - it's clear.

But - could You advise how to upgrade docker (uninstal and then install ?) : From Docker 17.06, provider: DockerMsft To Docker 18.09

    Best regards,

    Adam

    Hi Adam,

is there a reason why you would want to upgrade docker? If you install 46, it will see that docker already exists and the paw installation will work with docker and its content.

Are you aware that our later versions of PAW installs docker automatically? So if your decision is to remove current docker, I would suggest you walk through the backup and restore that is in the link Stuart provided. Also to copy the "env" and "certs" files (other links) in case.

To my knowledge you can't have 2 versions of docker on the same system like you can with PAW. So you would need to uninstall docker & older version of paw. Then install later version of PAW which would install docker at the same time.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Robert,

    Thank You for Your info.
I've just do it - I installed 46 (without any changes to docker) and .... it's working as You wrote.
Thank You very much for Your help.

    Best regards,

    Adam
