PAfE 2.0.68 MSG captions in Ribbon

I downloaded and replaced my PAfE 2.0.67 XLL file with the PAfE 2.0.68 XLL.
After restarting Excel, two items on the Ribbon are incorrect, not sure what else may be impacted.

I am running in Windows/Excel in English, nothing different to what I was doing on 2.0.67.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

Note: Removed the add-in and started Excel without PAfE. Dragged and dropped XLL onto Excel, same behaviour. XLL is not in any restricted or encrypted folder etc. Same location as 2.0.67 which seemed fine.

    Hi George,

Probably not a coincidence that both buttons were modified with v68 (https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/2.0.0?topic=excel-2068-feature-updates-october-8-2021).

Wondering if either v68 doesn't modify existing v67 laungage file in AppData folder -or- it's somehow locked?

Does removing AppData folder then opening Excel again fix the issue?

    Hi George,
I had similar issues with some customers' installations, I had to remove the *UserProfile*\AppData\Local\Cognos\Office Connection folder, re-run the XLL and sometimes manually retrieve the LanguageResources folder from another successful installation.
My guess in your case is that something has changed in the language files between the 2 versions and the files have not been replaced.
I'm going to check for myself and download the 2.0.68 ;)

Thanks Adam and Laurent - I removed the Office Connection folder and restarted Excel. Was prompted for my Language etc. Captions are now correct.
The Cognos.Office.Reporting.Resource.msgs.cormsgs.en.resources, Cognos.Office.Framework.Resources.msgs.coimsgs.en.resources other files in the LanguageResources folder are now showing a data modified of 2021/09/30 vs 2021/06/11.

Ideally it should only be EULAs and LanguageResources that need to be flushed. The Settings files e.g. CommManagerSettings.xml, CognosOfficeReportingSettings.xml etc. look like they should remain or you get to configure your connections again.

This is certainly going to be problematic to get each user to do.

@IBM - Any way to fix this as part of the package deployment when the user open the XLL for the first time?

    George,

Thanks for starting the dialog on this one.

I would recommend you open a defect ticket on this item; my guess is this is not the intended behavior.

    Hi George,

We've been having frequent issues with the labels of the user interface of the standalone versions of PAfE since its first release, don't know if it is coming from a strange locale on our clients computers or Office365 or security rules or whatever...

Anyway, there are 2 ways to correct this :
    - remove the "Language Resources" folder from the profile, as stated in the IBM link provided by Yin Chu, then restart PAfE
    - replace the "Language Resources" folder by another one that works from another machine, even from a previous version (we had to do that for 2 customers since solution #1 did not work).

    Cheers,
    Laurent

Thanks everyone - the workaround note is as a result of the defect I raised - PH41365 PA FOR EXCEL 2.0.68 SHOWS INCORRECT CAPTIONS IN RIBBON
For now we are removing the language resources folders as required. Luckily not need Laurent's option 2 yet.
