Thanks Richard and William for the quick insight.
My 11.1.6 installation is straight out-of-the-box (with FP 1 and 2) - i.e. no customization. So it has to be what I call a "feature" (bug) or maybe a "feature of the future" that escaped it's cage. With no documentation anywhere it's hard to tell. Your discovery of "interactive reports" is a good one though. I tried the same thing and as you had discovered, the "Group content" icon pops up when I run an interactive report. But its existence is still a mystery.
Thanks guys for your help... *^_^*

I've had a ticket with IBM about this for over 3 months (along with many other bugs), from what I was told that folder is part of the native 11.1.6 and shows up when viewing a saved or interactive report/dashboard. It's basically a rebranded version of Public Folders/Team Content that appears alongs side them in the navigation pane. It's problematic for us because we don't make root Public Folder available to end users this "Group Content" shows up and there isn't a way to turn off or disable it. IBM has logged an APAR but it hasn't made it through development yet. I'll post the APAR here when they provide it to me.

Good morning Syd.
That navigation button labelled Group Content is not a native part of Cognos Analytics or of 11.1.6. Its the result of a customization to the interface implemented in your environment. The folder with a * in it comes from Customization implemented in your environment. it could be from a Role-based customization called Custom Folder, it could be from an extension that someone coded... I think there are a number of ways that Icon can appear in your navigation bar.
But, it is not part of the default icons that appear upon upgrading to 11.1.6.
Is there a folder in your Team Content called "Group Content"? If so, then I'd guess that a Role-based customization exists on one of the roles of which you are a member that has added that icon to your nav bar.

Hi all,
Can someone please point me to the 11.1.6 documentation for "Group content" which appears on the Welcome page Navigation panel.
