    Hi all,

    Can someone please point me to the 11.1.6 documentation for "Group content" which appears on the Welcome page Navigation panel.
    Thanks,
    Syd

    Good morning Syd,

    That navigation button labelled Group Content is not a native part of Cognos Analytics or of 11.1.6.  Its the result of a customization to the interface implemented in your environment.  The folder with a * in it comes from Customization implemented in your environment.  it could be from a Role-based customization called Custom Folder, it could be from an extension that someone coded... I think there are a number of ways that Icon can appear in your navigation bar.

    But, it is not part of the default icons that appear upon upgrading to 11.1.6.

    UPDATED:  After reading William Shaw's note (below) I did some experimenting, and I now see this Group Content button appears when running an interactive report, and it disappears when you close that report.  It does not appear when you run a non-interactive report (e.g. Classic Viewer).

    While there are many ways to get this * icon folder up on purpose (such as the customization I mention above) this situation does appear to be new in 11.1.6 (I cannot reproduce in 11.1.5) and(per Mr. Shaw's note below appears to be a bug.

    I've had a ticket with IBM about this for over 3 months (along with many other bugs), from what I was told that folder is part of the native 11.1.6 and shows up when viewing a saved or interactive report/dashboard. It's basically a rebranded version of Public Folders/Team Content that appears alongs side them in the navigation pane. It's problematic for us because we don't make root Public Folder available to end users this "Group Content" shows up and there isn't a way to turn off or disable it. IBM has logged an APAR but it hasn't made it through development yet. I'll post the APAR here when they provide it to me.

    Thanks Richard and William for the quick insight.

    My 11.1.6 installation is straight out-of-the-box (with FP 1 and 2) - i.e. no customization. So it has to be what I call a "feature" (bug) or maybe a "feature of the future" that escaped it's cage. With no documentation anywhere it's hard to tell. Your discovery of "interactive reports" is a good one though. I tried the same thing and as you had discovered, the "Group content" icon pops up when I run an interactive report. But its existence is still a mystery.
    Thanks guys for your help... *^_^*

    Hi,
    I checked with our documentation team,
    there is a bit of information at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ag_manage.doc/c_ca_mng_cust_roles.html
    The documentation team appreciates you pointing out the lack of info and is planning to add more.

    I fogot to post an update, but the APAR has been accepted and development is currently working to resolve this issue. Here's the link to the public-facing APAR

    PH26886: 'GROUP CONTENT' FOLDER APPEARS IN NAVIGATION PANE WHEN RUNNING AREPORT WITH FULL INTERACTIVITY ENABLED.

    Hi

    Is There any solution to disable "Group Content" . We are seeing this folder in Dashboard perspective when we double click Edit or Preview button.
    We also see "My Portal Pages" button along with "Group Content" Button. Please let me know if there is any option to disable these two buttons.

    Hi @Syd Shewchuk, @Richard Chester, @William Shaw, @Balakrishna Adusumilli,

    Sunday afternoon, raining outside ... read your post ... so haveing fun with Cognos ...

    Attached find an extension that disables the teamContent "forever".

    In the browser console you will see a log-entry every time the item is being hidden.

    Thanks @Ralf Roeber , This extension works fine to disable team content in Welcome perspective.
    But we are having issue with dashboard, Two new icons (Group Content and My portal pages) are visible when we click edit or preview twice on Dashboard page.
    Please find the attached screenshot for reference.

    Thank you!

    Oh, @Balakrishna Adusumilli ... I did not read the initial comment to the end :-)

    >Two new icons (Group Content and My portal pages) are visible
    Anyhow, that is quite easy to achieve:

    open amvara_common.js and add these lines
    /* Hide the teamfolder menu item */
    console.dir("AMVARA Hiding Teamfolder Button ");
    $("#com\\.ibm\\.bi\\.contentApps\\.teamFoldersSlideout").parent().parent().hide();

    /* Hide the other menu items to your needs ... */
    console.dir("AMVARA Hiding customFoldersSlideout Button ");
    $("#com\\.ibm\\.bi\\.contentApps\\.customFoldersSlideout").parent().parent().hide();
    console.dir("AMVARA Hiding myPortalPages Button ");
    $("#com\\.ibm\\.bi\\.contentApps\\.myPortalPages").parent().parent().hide();

    For any other menue item it is the "same" procedure ... open chrome ... Hit F12 ... find the ID of the menu item to hide ... put the ID in amvara_common.js ... upload extension and reload the portal.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi @Ralf Roeber,
    I need to disable 'About info' of cognos which is showing cognos version.
    Is there any possible way to hide About button?

    @Amol Pukale You can hide About via role customization. See attached screenshot.

    Hi Denny,
    @DENNY NAREZNY
    Thanks a lot for this information. This is really helpful.
    We do host Cognos servers for our clients , and it may become difficult to make changes to all Cognos environments - close to 200 ( DEV+SB+QA+PP+PROD)
    Is there a published SDK API or REST API to make this change? Please let us know.
    Thanks!
